A Letter from Jen Shuey, CCFT Treasurer and Former President

As we near the end of 2022, I am proud to look back over the past three years and see how far this organization has come. The Board of the Centre County Farmland Trust stepped up to the challenge in 2019 to reinvent the organization’s structure from the ground up.

Our dedicated volunteers and generous supporters have sustained the Centre County Farmland Trust through a period of extraordinary structural change—all while the COVID pandemic transformed the ways we connect with each other and the world around us.

Health, community, resilience, sustainability.

All have deeper meaning in our lives now—as individuals, families, communities, and for the world we live in.

As an organization dedicated to the conservation of farmland for the future, we have been steadily building our capacity and partnerships to pick up the pace of farmland protection and more effectively steward the resources and the relationships at the core of our conservation easements.

Please join us.

We thank you for your commitment to our community and ask you to give a year-end gift to continue to preserve more farmland. You’ll be supporting the local landowners who cherish their land and make the immense commitment to donate the valuable development rights of their land to protect it forever.

Contributions from donors like you allow us to fund the considerable costs of farmland preservation, including land surveying and analysis, documenting the current conditions of the land, real estate closing costs, annual meetings with the landowners and monitoring of the land, and permanent stewardship and conservation defense for our preserved farms.

All of this is important because we are committed to carry out the landowners’ wishes for their land in perpetuity — so they can rest assured that their land will always remain as farmland for those who come after them.

A healthy local agricultural community benefits us all. Please consider making a tax-deductible year-end contribution that is meaningful to you to support this important work.

You can mail a check with the reply form below to “Centre County Farmland Trust, PO Box 604, Centre Hall, PA 16828”.

Your donation makes a big impact and will help us immediately as we prepare to close on a conservation easement with a Bellefonte landowner that we have been working with this year.

Thank you for all that you do to support farmland preservation! Protecting farms like this is only possible because of your support.

Jennifer Shuey, Treasurer

Centre County Farmland Trust Board of Trustees

P.S. Please give your generous gift today to support farmland preservation in the heart of Pennsylvania… and the hands and lands that feed us.
